NC State Tournament - Charlotte, NC

The Buccaneers recently entered the AAU State Tournament in Concord, NC.  Over 650 wrestlers participated on 10 mats.  The Buccaneers had 7 wrestlers participate.  Justin Moore (Junior 95) and Hunter Crafford (Midget 80) both won state championship.  Both Hunter and Justin won all of their matches by pins.  Brisen Koch (Bantam 75) placed 2nd.  Brisen won his first match 10-8, and won by fall his second match.  Brisen was close to winning the fastest pin time with a 10 second pin.  He lost by decision in the finals.  Daniel Fisher and Sterling Mathis each won 1 match.

The Buccaneers took 13 wrestlers to the tournament and 7 wrestlers placed 1st or 2nd.  The team had a record of 19-18 on the day.  Over 300 wrestlers participated in the tournament.  

Ian Whitson (2-0) won 4-5th grade 120.  He won by pin and 12-0 by decision. 
Sterling Mathis (4-0) won Middle School 112.  Sterling had 4 pins.
Bryson Carraway (2-1) placed 2nd in 2-3rd grade 55 pound weight class.  He won  a 6-2 decision and 12-0 decision and lost 4-8 decision.
Josh Russ placed 2nd at 2-3rd grade heavyweight
Josh Ward (2-1) placed 2nd at 4-5th grade 75.  He had 2 pins
Justin Moore (3-1) placed 2nd in Middle School 95.  He had 3 pins.
Chris Mitchell (3-1) place 2nd in Middle School 125. He had 3 pins.
Daniel Fisher (2-2) placed 5th in Middle School 90.  He had 1 pin and won a 12-0 decision.  Daniel had 16 wrestlers in his weight class.
Brisen Koch, Greg Heath, Mathew Stoekle, Cameron Cecil and Wesley Cain also participated in the tournament.

Nov. 22, 2003

The Buccaneers took 5 wrestlers to the tournament.  Justin Moore won with 2 pins, Hunter Crafford won with 1 pin and an 8-6 win, Chris Mitchell won with a pin, Josh Russ came in second with a pin and loss by pin, and Brisen Koch came in 3rd with a 7-8 loss, a 6-7 loss and a 13-0 win.  The Buccaneers wrestled 10 matches and won 7.
